Auntie Rachel's Birthday

We headed up to Spring yesterday to celebrate my sister's birthday (actual bday is today).  My aunt and uncle are in town from Milwaukee too so it was good to see them.  We had a fun time and ate lots of food.  Alex got pretty worn out since he didn't really get a nap in. Happy birthday Rachel!

I had ordered a pacifier clip/holder on Amazon but in the meanwhile I fashioned one myself out of a clothespin and 2 rubber bands -- worked well!

March 2nd was Dr. Seuss's birthday so he wore his Dr. Seuss onesie (that was cousin Haley's).  I copied this idea from Jamie!

And lastly he is modeling his Rodeo outfit which is in town right now. My parents stopped by today as they parked at our house and took the light rail to the Rodeo (so much easier than driving and parking).

2 Months!

Alex is 2 months old! We went to the doctor today and everything looks good.  He is middle of the range for weight, height, and head circumference.  He now weighs 11lbs 10oz.  In my Baby 411 book, a baby born at 7lbs (which was his birth weight) is on average 10lbs 2oz by 2 months.  So Alex is rocking and rolling.  I asked the doctor about his napping and she just said do what it takes for now meaning if he sleeps in the swing, stroller, wrap, etc. is fine.  She said some babies just don't nap much and take cat naps and that they don't start developing habits until around 4 months of age.  He is sleeping well at night and has one 5-7 hour stretch which is how long he should be sleeping at his age.

I tried to take some 2 month pictures last night.  Alex wasn't too happy about it :-)

My parents watched Alex on Sunday so that Ryan and I could go out for a belated Valentine's Day meal.  We had a nice brunch/lunch at Backstreet Cafe. We split crab cakes to start, I had migas as my entree and Ryan had steak and mac and cheese. For dessert we split a warm dark chocolate cake! And I had pink champagne and Ryan had a bloody mary.  It was nice to get out and enjoy a fancy meal at a restaurant!

Apparently my camera was hi-jacked while they were babysitting. Grandpa and Alex look woozy.

Happy Valentines Day from Alex!

He was good for his first stretch of sleep last night, sleeping from 7pm to 12:30am.  However he was then up again at 3:30, 5:30 and 7:30 screaming bloody murder. Typical nights he sleeps until 12-1am then up at 4ish and then up around 730 for the day. He still is very resistant to naps so I do what I can to get him to sleep. Some days his first nap will be in the swing but if that doesn't work, I just end up rocking him in my arms for an hour or 2. His second nap lately has been in the baby bjorn as I take a long walk around Rice and through the neighborhood. His 3rd nap, if I am lucky to get one, is usually in my arms or in the swing. On occasion he will actually let me put him down in his crib to nap but usually that just makes him wake up and cry. He typically sleeps his first stretch at night in the swing (we turn the actual swing off after an hour or 2) and then his subsequent sleep is in the crib and he is okay with that. I cannot wait for Alex to get better at this sleeping ordeal. At his age they are supposed to have one 5-6 hour stretch at night, which he is doing, but he should be napping more during the day. He is still fussy most of the entire day which is hard but I am just hanging in there knowing that it should pass by 3-4 months (according to what books say). I've also read that fussy babies tend to sleep less overall than non-fussy babies. Sort of a chicken and the egg thing -- is he fussy because he isn't sleeping enough or is he not sleeping because he is fussy. Any sleeping tips/advance/suggestions welcome! I swaddle him and even use white noise in the background.

I saw the Duggars on the Today show today. After having 1 child, I do not know how they manage 19! Yikes!
