G&G Hummer visit

We had a nice visit last weekend with G&G Hummer. Friday afternoon we went to St. Arnold's Brewery for the "tour" which just means we sat there for a little over an hour and drank their beer. Alex had lots of fun running all around the brewery! Saturday we had a late lunch at Brian O'Neills in Rice Village and just relaxed the rest of the day. On Sunday we had an outing to my parents' house for an early dinner. The food was good and everyone had a nice time. The grandparents hadn't seen each other since our wedding almost 4 years ago. Here are a few pics from the weekend and some of him just being silly.

Climber!

Alex loves to climb things. He may take after his cousin Davis in that respect!

The second picture scared the crap out of me.

Christmas #2

Alex had his first plane ride to head to South Carolina for Christmas with all the Hummers. Overall he did pretty well (especially when he finally fell asleep and napped for an hour).

We had a nice time in South Carolina and were there for 10 days. Uncle Chip, Luca and Davis met Alex for the first time! The first few days (well actually until Ryan and I left for Charleston) Alex was super clingy to me. I guess there was just more commotion than he is used to and new surroundings that made him want his mamma the whole time. On the Thursday after Christmas, Ryan and I headed to Charleston for 2 nights baby-free! It was my first time away from Alex. We (Alex and I) did really well and it was nice to get away. Charleston is a nice, historic city but there isn't too much to do there for an extended time. We stayed in a loft-style hotel room which was modern and nice compared to most of the Victorian-style options in Charleston.

Alex loved all the attention he got from his cousins, especially Davis. If Alex was upset or crying, all you had to do was ask Davis to give him attention and he would laugh or smile. It was really cute!

12 Month picture

I should have included Alex's 12 month picture with the 1 year post:

Christmas #1

We celebrated Christmas with my family on Sunday, the 16th since we were all going separate ways this holiday. We all went over to Grandma and Grandpas in the afternoon, opened gifts, played and had a yummy dinner. Here are some pics.

Alex is 1!

I can't believe little Alex is 1 year old! He is a super sweet, happy, and very busy little boy. He started  properly walking on his first birthday exactly! Some of his favorite things are doggies, power cords, balloons, and gnawing on the corner of anything he can get his hands on (books, boxes, envelopes, etc.) He weighs 22lbs and 8oz which is in the 42nd percentile and is 29.5in tall which is in the 35th percentile. He also has 9 teeth!

We celebrated his birthday the Saturday before on the 15th with my family at the house. Since Alex loves Mexican food (haha) we had chicken and beef fajitas, grilled vegetables, queso, guac, and salsa. For dessert I made strawberry cupcakes with a strawberry cream cheese frosting hoping that Alex would like it since he loves strawberries. Well he had no interest in his cupcake. Maybe he was protesting the fact it was pink!

On his actual birthday (Thursday) my mom came over (Ryan was at work) and we walked around Rice Village and grabbed a coffee. I bought him a pumpkin cupcake this time and he still had no interest. Oh well, we enjoyed eating it.

Happy birthday Alex!

Strawberry cupcake, no interest even when trying to force it!
